Can I pay for my gardening in cash?
For the ‘one off’ work, customers may pay by cash, but for the regular gardening work the only way we accept payment is by standing order.
Do you take regular garden maintenance waste?
The answer to this is no. We do not remove waste from regular maintenance gardens. Most customers have brown bins, or the council will allow them to use their green bins for garden waste. If customers are too frail to put out their own brown bins, gardeners will put them out for them, if it is practical.
Do you take one-off garden waste?
We only remove waste from off-off garden work charged at £5.00 per half One Tonne Sack.
Roughly, one hour’s work generates half a builder’s sack of material. If customers have a brown bin, we are happy to use that first, a brown bin will roughly hold an hour’s worth of cutting back, but this is only a rough guide.
We say £5 for half a builder’s sack, because a full sack is too heavy for one person to lift into the van (for most of our gardeners).
If I don't want chemicals, will you reduce the cost?
We charge over 12 month’s of the year by spreading the total cost of the 18 visits because, in the past gardeners have only been paid for the work that was carried out during the gardening season, but the result of this was that gardeners then had to find other work over the winter period.
When March came around for them to come back to work, they wouldn’t give up their secure income to come back to an insecure income. This meant that good, hard working gardeners were lost along with all the experience and expertise they had gained whilst working in the gardening the previous year(s).
This is why the payments are structured as they are. Customers are not paying for something they are not getting. They are paying during the winter for work they have already had during the year.
Because they are paid through the winter the result is, that they stay with us for years and years and years. They become very experienced and customers and their gardens benefit from this.
How much do you charge for an hour?
We charge £35 per hour for ‘one off’ work and approximately £30 per hour for the regular work.
There can be other costs attached to this. If you would like us to remove everything we cut down, we charge £5 for half a large builder’s sack of waste material, because it then costs us time and money to dispose of it.
If you book through our online booking system, the price is £40 per hour, this includes a bag of waste for each hour booked.
We always use the brown bin first unless requested not to. Not all customers have us remove their waste, they deal with it themselves either feeding it into their brown bins over the weeks, or having us put it on their compost heap, or taking it to the tip themselves..
